Industry Institute Interface
In the current era of globalization industry-institute-partnership acts as an anchor in establishing a strong foothold for the professionals. Hence academics and corporate go hand in hand towards bridging the gap between the two. In purview of the same V.N.S initiated a bold step towards introducing and conducting vocational training for all students of Engineering, Pharmacy and Management. It ensures a pragmatic approach of students to hands on experience in corporate. A set of around 22 companies were short-listed in and around Bhopal to build institutional alliance with them. The training ranges from 7 to 15 days for most students. This exercise has multifold benefits. The students are imparted technical as well as managerial knowledge by the exposure to the corporate working. For the smooth functioning of the vocational training the college had introduced a mentor model wherein a faculty member who is a knowledge expert is made in-charge to mentor the students and coach them to gain maximum from the training and maintain accountability. Certificates are given to all the students by the companies. Below is the list of companies that our students participated in:

Tata Tele Services Ltd. Bhopal

It was a great privilege for me to undergo my project work at, TATA TELE SERVICE LTD., Bhopal. I am highly obliged to the management of TTSL for granting me permission to do this study and for rendering every possible help to carry out this training.

My vocational training was of 15 days and my project topic was “Learning of HR Functions”. Purpose of my study was to have a proper knowledge of core HR functions, in order to acquire the basic idea of their working and the objective was to recognize that human resource management exist in the organization for its effectiveness.

Tata Teleservices is part of the Tata Group. It spearheads the Group's presence in the telecom sector. Incorporated in 1996, Tata Teleservices was the first to launch CDMA mobile services in the Andhra Pradesh circle. It operates under the brand name Tata Indicom in various telecom circles of India. Tata Teleservices provides mobile services under 3 brand names Tata Indicom, Tata DOCOMO, Virgin Mobile. Their mission is to empower every Indian to connect with the world affordably.

As a trainee at TTSL I am fortunate to have worked with the efficient team and got a chance to learn some of the basic core HR functions like file management, induction feedback analysis, data entry of Resumes, Performance management system, PMS telecalling, Career advancement scheme, CAS telecalling, File auditing of new joiners, PHM cards arrangement, Sodexo card distribution, Recruitment via OCS/telephonic interview, knowledge about KRA's & KPI's, Re-imbursement/Claims Policies, CRISP recruitment and appraisal policy, database management, Retrial benefit policy, MIS (personal detail informantion), CSR (corporate social responsibility), Training & Development as per PMS requirement, Employee budget, Report maintenance, Resignation policy, Flexi benefits, Requirement of the candidate who applied for the job, Employee lifecycle and Professional communication skills.

Team work, coordination among the peer group, dealing with work pressure, multitasking are some of the outstanding qualities of the HR executives at TTSL. It was a good very good experience while completed the training and was exposed to core HR functions.

It has been great working with HR team of TTSL and I register my deepest regard, devotion & gratefulness to the HR Team at TTSL. It would have been difficult to complete this training without the continuous support and guidance of Mr. Mathew Varkey, HR Head (MPCG & Gujarat), Mr. Kaustab Sarkar (HR Manager), Mr. Bal Krishan Malvi (Asst. Manager), Mr. Vidyabhusan Dewangan (Asst. Manager), Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur (Sr. Executive), Ms. Chandan Rathur (Sr. Executive), Mr. Sonu Kumar (HR Coordinator) would like to extend my deep gratitude for their support, enthusiasm, continuous encouragement; sharp observations, suggestions and concern. Anant Spinning Mills, Mandideep
I received 10 days training at Anant Spinning Mills, Mandideep in HR department. From the very first day it was a great experience. The work culture of the organization is very good and the employees are very cooperative. There I saw practical aspects of many things. The various learnings in the organization to which I was exposed are :

• 3 C Analysis of company i.e. company analysis, customer analysis and competitor analysis.

• Recruitment processes & its filing process.

• Grievance handling

• Session of Quality circle & MVK (Manas Vikas) Programme.

• Employee's promotion schemes.

I sincerely thank the management, officials and the employess of the Anant Spinning Mills for the opportunity of learning various of aspects of vocational training.

Eicher Tractors, Mandideep, Bhopal

Eicher Tractors is one of the largest tractor manufacturing company of tractors. Its Mandideep plant is an assembling one, where they assemble 120 tractors per day.

For the vocational training I was given an opportunity to undergo training at Eicher Tractors. It was one of the best things that happened to me.

The main objective of undergoing training was to have a knowledge of core HR functions, which at completing the training that was related to the following:

• Recruitment Process
• Data Maintenance
• Provided help in conducting MDP (Management Development Program)
• Competency Mapping
I therefore would like to thank my trainers Mrs. Pooja Asthana (Junior Manager), Mr. Rajesh Pal (Senior Manager) and last but not the least Training & Placement Cell of VNS for giving me this opportunity.

Crompton Greaves, Mandideep
The details of my training are as following :

Duration : 15 Days (22nd of Jan 2010 to 05th of Feb 2010)

Name of Company : Crompton Greaves (CG) Smart solution strong relationship

Safety Measures : On the very 1st day of trainings we saw some safety measures of company.

1. When we entered in gate there were security guards who checked us with metal detector.

2. Details of visitor eg : purpose, time of entry & whom he/she wants to meet.

3. No electronics gadgets like Mobile, Camera & Pen Drive were allowed carried inside.

4. After completion of all the formalities they issued a gate pass & safety helmet to enter their premises.

5. Safety instructions are also provided i.e do not cross the barricades, not allowed to go in shop & floor etc.

Co-operation of Staff:

I would like to give special thanks to Ms. Sofia Anjum (HR Deppt.) , Mr. Shailesh Saxena (Engineer Maintainace dept.) & Mr. Bhupendra Neam (Black Belt in 6 sigma dept.) and all the staff members of CG who helped us in all aspects.

Detail of Company :

There are three units at CG in Bhopal.

1. Transformer Section 2. Lamaseries Section 3. HT/LT & DC Traction Section

We have visited M-7 division during our training schedule which is again divided in three sections:

HT, LT & Traction Motor

What we learnt: During this 15 Days of industrial Training, we have learned the manufacturing procedure of HT/LT & Traction motor as well as testing of Motors.

After that we have also got training on sixsigma project with Mr. Bhupendra Nema (Black Belt in 6 sigma dept.), he explained us the application of 6 sigma in industry to incrcase the productivity.

We also got two projects based on 6 sigma.

Vibration in motor: Temperature test during brazing.

Other facilities (Canteen Facility):

They are also providing canteen facility to employees and trainee student with better quality of food & hygiene which was excellent.

Bus Facility: Bus Facility is also available for both employees and trainee students so that they can reach the spot on time.
